Guest Musicians: Thank You

I would like to say Thank You these very talented guest musicians, who helped me make this album, and for also playing in the upcoming CD release concert on January 30th. You are very much appreciated!

Phil Henry

Singer-songwriter Phil Henry has been amazingly helpful to me throughout the entire process from making the album and onward towards the release concert. Not only is Phil a gifted musician and music teacher, he is also a skilled audio engineer.

During the mostly weekly recording sessions at Grace Church, Phil and I were socially distanced while recording one hymn per session. During the pandemic these recording sessions were my occasional ventures outside the house (except for some ski days), and Phil was the friendly face behind the mask.

After the recording was completed and photos available, Phil has been with me step by step guiding me through the album cover design, and Disc Makers (CD production) and CDBaby (streaming). I could not have gotten this far without Phil’s knowledge, help and support.

Phil played djembe on one track (We Are One In The Spirit). Phil will also be playing an original song during the concert.

Linda MacFarlane

I have known and played music with local music & movement and children’s music specialist Linda MacFarlane for over two decades. She and I have played a few gigs together: Farmers Markets, First Night and New Year’s Eve gatherings for families at the Rutland Free Library, etc.

In addition to playing guitar, Linda also plays the mountain dulcimer and added her music to two tracks on the album (Morning Has Broken, Be Thou My Vision). Linda will also play an original song during the concert.

Marina Smakhtina

Marina plays both cello and classical guitar and is also a music teacher.

I met Marina only a few years ago at the Wildwoods Music Song Circle at the Godnick Center.

Later I saw Marina at Grace Church where she occasionally plays cello for music concerts at Grace Church.

Marina began playing music in Russia. We are blessed in the Rutland area to hear her play her music in Vermont.

Marina will perform a Prelude by J.S. Bach on the cello at the concert.

Anna Pulcer

My niece Anna is a K-8 music teacher in Michigan. She has taught middle school band and singing. She now teaches younger students at three Catholic schools near Detroit.

Anna recorded her flute remotely for four hymns on the album (Morning Has Broken, Be Thou My Vision, Amazing Grace, We Are One In The Spirit). Phil Henry skillfully mixed these flute tracks into the recordings, making it sound as if Anna recorded here at Grace Church.

Anna was unable to travel to Vermont for this concert. When Anna was in high school, her family visited Vermont. We played a flute and guitar duet at a New Year’s Sunday service at Grace Church. So the sound of her flute has briefly echoed through the Grace Church Sanctuary in the past.
